A perfect fit

System getting the best out of Wootton

18 January 2020

Kyle Wootton feels the way we play is getting the best out of him and has contributed to the best goal-scoring season of his career.

The striker, who turned his loan deal permanent earlier this month, has already hit 12 and will be looking for more when we host Dover this afternoon.

And he thinks he fits perfectly into our side, which was one of the main motivations for him to extend his stay at the Lane.

“I’ve been really enjoying my football from day one and everyone has been great,” Wootton said.

“What I bring to the team is a nice fit for me and there’s a lot more to come as well.

“The way we play suits me to a tee and the manager’s work with me has been paying off.

“I have to keep doing the right things for the team and hopefully the goals will keep coming.

“I’m delighted with my return. The manager said I’d play a big part for the team and I’ve been doing that week on week.”

Dover’s record on the road is excellent, taking 26 points from 13 games, and Wootton says we must be at our best this afternoon.

“Some sides are better away than they are at home and you can’t really say why," he said.

"But we know what we need to do at home and that's making sure we’re at it come 3pm.

“We have to concentrate on our own style because it’s drilled into us what we want to be and we’ve got to keep that momentum going.

“The fans have been supportive throughout the bad and good times, so let’s keep getting results and keep the good ones rolling.”

The Dover match is the first included in our Run-In ticket bundle, which allows you to make significant savings on admission for our final eight home games of the season. Click here to find out more.
