Osborne moves on

Winger ready for new challenge

27 August 2020

Sam Osborne has decided to leave Meadow Lane to pursue more regular first-team opportunities elsewhere.

The 21-year-old winger, who graduated from our academy, had been offered a deal to stay but feels it’s time to move on to pastures new.

“This has been one of the most difficult decisions of my life,” said Osborne.

“Having been at Notts for so long, and being a Beeston lad, the club is a massive part of me and always will be.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunities the manager gave me last season and the memories of my three goals and the part I played in helping us reach Wembley and the Trophy semis will live with me forever.

“But I’m at an age where my priority has to be getting regular game time and, following discussions with my family, friends and the club, I’ve decided the best option is for me to move on.

“I would like to thank everyone, including the fans, for the incredible support they’ve shown me. There’s no doubt in my mind that Notts are moving in the right direction and I’m sure it won’t be long until we’re back in the EFL.

“I’m proud of everything I’ve achieved at Meadow Lane, including winning back-to-back Young Player of the Season awards, and I’m now looking forward to continuing my development by playing more regular first-team football.”

Everyone at Notts wishes Ozzy the best of luck for the next chapter of his career.
