Supporters have pledged over £25,000 to Notts County and Age UK in a hugely successful Crowdfunding campaign.
335 individuals pre-ordered a varierty of experiences, ticket bundles, hospitality packages and commercial opportunities for the 2020-21 season, with 10% of all monies raised going to the local charity.
We'd set an initial target of £20,000 but, after that was reached within weeks of launch, a stretch target of £25,000 was confirmed.
Then, with this evening's 7.30pm deadline looming, a further wave of pledges took us to a final total of £25,495 - securing a donation of £2,549.50 to Age UK, which we will be rounding up to £3,000.
Our chief executive, Jason Turner, said: "I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who pledged money and made this campaign a roaring success.
"We were absolutely thrilled to reach £20,000, let alone £25,000, and we're delighted that Age UK will benefit significantly at this very testing time.
"This money is also gratefully received by the club. With virtually all our income streams dried up, and with great uncertainty remaining over when it will be safe for football to resume, the revenue from this initiative will be a huge help to us.
"The next step in the process is for us to contact everyone who has pledged to share further details of how they can claim their reward. Please keep an eye on your email inbox in the coming days and weeks.
"Finally, I'd like to say a huge thank you to Crowdfunder, who are waiving their fees for all sports clubs during the coronavirus pandemic. We really appreciate this gesture and look forward to welcoming their representatives to one of our matches."
Di Trinder, Assistant Chief Executive at Age UK Notts, added: “Once again I have to say a huge thank you to Notts County for involving us in this hugely successful campaign.
“Older people are at the centre of the coronavirus pandemic and Age UK Notts are doing everything we possibly can to support them at this time of crisis.
"We desperately need funds to ensure we can continue to provide shopping for essential items, vital medication collection and daily welfare telephone calls during this very difficult time, so the club’s prompt payment of our share is hugely appreciated.
“Everyone who has contributed to this campaign has helped us meet a huge increase in demand for our services and we’re so grateful for that.”
