Mixed weekend for our youngsters

11 November 2019

We take a look at the impression some of our first-teamers are making while they're getting senior experience away from the Lane.

Remaye Campbell

Campbell played the first 45 minutes as Grantham Town were knocked out of the Buildbase FA Trophy in the second qualifying round courtesy of a 2-1 defeat at Halesowen on Saturday.

The youngster had scored in three consecutive matches ahead of the weekend but didn’t manage to make it four in a row, with our former striker, Francois Zoko, netting the Gingerbreads’ consolation after replacing the 19-year-old at half-time.

Declan Dunn, who’s also at Grantham, wasn’t involved on Saturday due to the terms of his loan.

Owen Betts

Betts started in the heart of defence as Spalding United won 2-1 at Newcastle Town on Saturday.

He missed their previous game against Stamford AFC but was named Man of the Match on his debut after joining the Tulips in October.

His loan at Spalding has been extended for another month, too!

Max Culverwell

The keeper kept another clean sheet as Quorn AFC ran out 5-0 winners against Cogenhoe United on Saturday.

That’s his fourth since joining the Leicestershire outfit in September, and they’re up to third after the victory.
