A youthful Notts County XI were beaten 1-0 at Carlton Town on Tuesday night.
First-team manager Neal Ardley and his assistant Neil Cox made the trip to the Bill Stokeld Stadium to track the progress of the young Magpies but saw the side led by Craig Gordon defeated by the Northern Premier League South East Division outfit.
Kyle Stovell netted the game's only goal when he capitailised on a bouncing ball to volley home from inside the area in the eighth minute.
