Crawford joins Fylde

Loan move for young midfielder

24 January 2019

Tom Crawford has today joined National League side AFC Fylde on loan until the end of the season.

The midfielder made the move to Meadow Lane over the summer and has made six first-team appearances, scoring once.

19-year-old Crawford is no stranger to the National League, having represented Chester FC in the division last season before joining Notts.

The Magpies have inserted a recall clause into the deal, and manager Neal Ardley feels the move will aid the midfielder's development.

"This is a great opportunity for Tom to go out and get regular game time, which is exactly what he needs at this stage of his career," said the boss.

"He’s joining a team with excellent facilities who are pushing for promotion, so it should be a really positive and beneficial experience for him at a level he knows well from his time at Chester.

"It’s a win-win situation for him and us as the agreement means we’re able to recall him at any point should we need him.

"We will be monitoring his progress closely and look forward to seeing how he gets on."

Crawford could encounter a familiar opponent if he makes his debut on Saturday as Fylde face Terry Hawkridge's new club Solihull Moors.
