O'Brien rounds off busy day of signings

1 August 2019

Jim O'Brien has signed a new contract with Notts County ahead of the 2019-20 season.

The Scot impressed for the Magpies following his move from Bradford in January and has now put pen to paper on a new deal.

O'Brien was a popular figure at Meadow Lane and missed just one game following his arrival at the club, scoring twice.

He featured three times for Notts in pre-season, turning out against Walsall, Ipswich and Alfreton, with supporters calling for him to re-sign ahead of 2019-20.

And today O'Brien has done exactly that.

"I'm very happy," said the midfielder. "Even though things panned out the way they did, I liked it here and enjoyed my football.

"There's a lot to be said for being settled at a club. After bouncing around over the last few years, I felt that here and that made it an easy decision despite having other offers.

"In truth, I never really left. I was back in pre-season on the first day and involved in the uncertainty, which was a frustrating time for everyone but on the whole I think it's built togetherness.

"Now we can put all of that to bed. The club have been quick to get good quality players through the door and it's certainly an exciting period."
