Preparing for everything

Boss looks ahead to Somerset trip

30 August 2019

Notts County manager Neal Ardley says he has prepared his team to face a variety of styles when they visit Yeovil Town this weekend.

The boss is aware that his opposite number, Darren Sarll, has mixed up his formations so far this season.

And he’s been working hard to ensure his players are ready for any eventuality at Huish Park.

“They’ve mixed up their systems, playing three or four at the back, and what we’ve tried to do in training is prepare for various scenarios so whatever shape they pick, we’re equipped for it,” said Ardley.

“Yeovil are a good footballing team with pace in their side. I know they’ve had a couple of bad results, but they’ll be at it.”

Notts are heading into the match on the back of an impressive 5-1 victory over Chorley on bank holiday Monday.

“There were a lot of tired bodies after the game,” revealed the boss. “The staff had worked really hard throughout the week in the build-up, too, so we had a couple of down-days before coming back in today (Thursday).

“The mood’s good – four games without defeat gives the whole place a lift but we can’t rest on our laurels because we’ve got two really tough games coming up.

“I still think we’re doing things that will cause us problems if we don’t iron them out further down the line. The consistency certainly isn’t there yet and we’re not getting carried away at all.”
