Notts to host all-girl schools’ finals

5 March 2018

An all-girl schools’ football event will once again be taking place at Meadow Lane to celebrate International Women’s Day - and Notts season ticket holders are entitled to free entry.

Meadow Lane will host the celebration of girls’ football on Thursday 8 March, with under 18s’ and college national finals taking place on the hallowed turf.

More than 100 schools and colleges across England entered the English Schools’ FA (ESFA) U18 Schools’ Cup and Colleges’ Cup for girls this season.

And the four finalists will battle it out to become national champions at the Lane.

The ESFA’s celebration of girls’ football will coincide with International Women’s Day, with the matches being officiated by an all-female line up.

This will be the second consecutive year that Meadow Lane has hosted this event and both the club and the ESFA are keen to welcome spectators along to cheer on the finalists in their final 90 minutes of the 2017-18 season.

The matches will kick off at 12pm and 4pm, setting up a whole day of entertaining, highly skilled schools football. More details will be released when the finalists are confirmed.

Darren Alcock, ESFA National Competitions Manager, said: “The atmosphere in the stadium makes all the difference to the players on the pitch and, while we do all we can to create a fantastic matchday experience for them, we rely on supporters and the public to create a real buzz around the final.

“Schools from the local area will be invited to attend with special discounted rates of entry, while Notts County season ticket holders can also claim free entry for the match.

“We hope to welcome along as many spectators as possible to enjoy the event.”

Entry will be charged on arrival at the stadium at a rate of £4 per adult and free of charge for all students under 18.

Hospitality packages for the event will also be made available to purchase, details of which will be announced in due course via the ESFA Twitter account and website.
