Preview: Yeovil (H)

17 August 2018

Notts County return to Sky Bet League Two action tonight as Yeovil Town visit Meadow Lane.

Coming off the back of a valiant effort which saw the Magpies take Middlesbrough to penalties in Tuesday night’s thrilling 3-3 draw in the Carabao Cup, Kevin Nolan’s side are looking to record their first win of the season.

Yeovil make the trip to the Lane also looking to pick up three points for the first time in 2018-19 and they too lost to Championship opposition in midweek – 1-0 at home to Aston Villa.

Both sides have picked up just one point from their opening two games of the season – scoring twice and conceding three.

Notts boss Kevin Nolan says…

“I love being at Meadow Lane under the lights and there’s nothing like this place when all the fans are behind us.

“We all need to stick together and get this bandwagon rolling with a win to set the tone for the rest of our season.

“Darren Way’s sides always provide a very stern test but we’re coming into the game off a great performance on Tuesday night which gives us confidence.

“We’re looking forward to getting back out there and continuing the positive progress we’re making as a team.”

Team news

Nolan made six changes for the Carabao Cup tie in midweek which saw Enzio Boldewijn, Matt Tootle, David Vaughan and Kane Hemmings rested for the trip ahead of tonight's match.

Kristian Dennis could be in line for his first start after being purposely left out of Tuesday’s 18, while Tom Crawford and Andy Kellett will hope their performances in Middlesbrough were enough to see them keep their places.

Branislav Pindroch suffered an injury in the warm-up on Tuesday night so he is the only new absentee for Nolan, who still has Ben Hall and Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain sidelined.

Former Notts players Carl Dickinson and Yoann Arquin could both feature for the visitors having played in every match so far this season.

Stuart Nelson, Jake Gray, James Bailey and Jordan Green will all definitely miss out, with Francois Zoko, Shaun Donnellan and Reece Cole facing a battle to be fit.

We’ve met before

Notts enjoyed a comfortable 4-1 victory in the last meeting between the two sides back in April.

Dan Jones opened the scoring just before half-time and a Tom James own-goal shortly after the break doubled the advantage.

Goals from Elliott Hewitt and Lewis Alessandra put Notts four goals to the good before Alex Fisher netted a consolation in stoppage time.

What are the odds?

Sky Bet have Notts as 8/13 favourites to pick up their first win of the season, while Yeovil are 19/4 to taste victory at Meadow Lane for the first time since 2014. A draw is priced 14/5.

A repeat of April’s 4-1 is 28/1, while Yeovil to win and both teams to score is boosted to 12/1.
