Nolan delighted with Yeovil showing

21 April 2018

Notts County manager Kevin Nolan described this afternoon’s performance as ‘outstanding’.

The Magpies ran out 4-1 winners over Yeovil Town to secure a play-off place and narrow the gap between themselves and third-placed Wycombe to only two points.

And the gaffer was thrilled with what he saw from his players.

“I thought it was an outstanding performance and the score could have been more,” he said. “It’s another great win to keep this momentum going.

“I’ve been saying all season long, we’re a team who have created lots of chances but we haven’t had that ruthlessness.

“We’ve worked doubly hard over the past few weeks to get more balls into the box and score more goals. Some of the goals and the finishing today was absolutely fantastic.

“The lads have stepped up to the plate over the past few weeks. They’ve been very positive and they’re driving each other on.

“I’m absolutely delighted for them.”

The result leaves Notts tantalisingly close to the top three and the boss can’t wait to see how the rest of the season pans out.

“There’s going to be drama but we’re going to enjoy it,” said Nolan. “I’ve told the lads to enjoy this – these are the best times of your life.

“I still look back at all the promotions I’ve had like they were yesterday. It would be special, after what we walked into last January.

“We’ve got to now start standing up. We’ve been a bit indifferent recently and people have started to question the players - and they want to show people.

“They’re working hard and just want success.”
