Meadow Lane to host poppy appeal launch

27 October 2017

Notts County are proud to be hosting the launch of Nottinghamshire's poppy appeal at Saturday's match against Newport County.

The club will be welcoming a number of special guests to Meadow Lane, including Tim Richmond OBE TD DL, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, and the Venerable Robin Turner CB DL.

Poppy sellers from the Royal British Legion will be situated around the ground and, shortly before kick-off, standard bearers will march to the centre circle, followed by dignitaries, chairman Alan Hardy and manager Kevin Nolan, both of whom will make ceremonial poppy purchases.

An exhortation will be read over the PA system followed by a live rendition of the Last Post. Supporters will then be asked to participate in a minute's applause to honour those who gave their lives in service to their country.

Mr Hardy said: "We are very humbled to have been chosen as the venue for the launch of Nottinghamshire's 2017 poppy appeal.

"It's set to be a very poignant day and we look forward to welcoming the dignitaries, standard bearers and poppy sellers to Meadow Lane."

To mark the occasion, Notts have increased their Tickets for Troops allocation from 20 to 100 for this fixture. If you're a serving member of the armed forces, or have been medically discharged, please click here.
