Grant named September's Player of the Month

Midfielder retains his crown in fan vote

6 October 2017

Supporters have voted Jorge Grant as Notts County's September Player of the Month.

The 22-year-old midfielder retains the crown, which he won in August, after another productive month which saw him score four times and provide three assists.

A superb cross laid a goal on a plate for Lewis Alessandra to seal a 1-0 win at Port Vale before the Nottingham Forest loanee set Jonathan Forte scampering clear to settle proceedings against Morecambe a week later.

But it was the second half of the month which saw the talisman shine brightest.

His predatory instincts were crucial in scoring the only goal away at Crawley Town and that was followed up with a superb free-kick against Lincoln City in his next outing, when he also set up Terry Hawkridge's first Notts goal.

Despite being named as a substitute for the trip to Exeter City, Grant still had a big impact on the game, coming off the bench to score twice and put the game beyond the Grecians as Notts romped to a 3-0 success.

It leaves his goal tally for the season at eight in all competitions, while his seven in Sky Bet League Two - scored at an average of 105 minutes per goal - see him lead the goalscoring charts along with Accrington Stanley striker Billy Kee and Exeter frontman Reuben Reid.

Voting results

1) Grant (60%)

2) Collin (24%)

3) Duffy (9%)

4) Stead (7%)

Aiden Ince, who was randomly selected from those who voted for Jorge, will have the opportunity to attend the presentation and receive one of Grant's match-worn shirt thanks to September's front-of-shirt sponsors Premier Electrical Services.
