Notts County have issued a statement following the cancellation of the Nottinghamshire FA's men's and women's Sunday League Cup finals last weekend.
Torrential rain in the build-up to the match left the surface waterlogged and, following consultation with the Nottinghamshire FA, it was decided that the pitch would not be of a sufficient standard to host the flagship event.
Despite an improvement in the weather overnight, which allowed much of the surface water to drain away, the aforementioned adverse conditions coupled with recent heavy activity on the pitch meant the surface would not have been suitable.
Both parties were very disappointed by this outcome and, as a gesture of goodwill, Notts County and the Nottinghamshire FA will be offering the affected clubs the opportunity to play each other in a friendly on Meadow Lane's brand-new pitch next season.
