The perfect performance

1 March 2017

Notts County manager Kevin Nolan says his side produced 'the perfect performance' against Plymouth Argyle last night.

Jorge Grant's first-half strike, coupled with a solid defensive display, earned the Magpies a 1-0 victory at Home Park.

And Nolan was thrilled with what he saw from his men.

"It was the perfect performance," he said. "I was delighted with the way the lads handled the game throughout. It could have been three, four or even five-nil.

"We haven't done much on the training pitch this week because of the game on Saturday and the travelling we had to do, so it was all about being in the classroom and doing the right things. The lads took everything on board and I'm absolutely delighted with the output I got."

Nolan is becoming more and more familiar with his players and is confident he is working with a group that suits his style.

He said: "Once I got to know them personally after a couple of weeks, I knew I had players who were intelligent footballers that could handle what I was going to throw at them.

"I've just said to them: 'This is not the time to relax. This is the time to work even harder.' And that's what we're going to do.

"Both mine and Alan Hardy's work ethic is 110% and it's brilliant that the lads have bought into that - and they're getting the results because of it."
