Evolving as a team

26 March 2017

Notts County forward Shola Ameobi says the Magpies are evolving under Kevin Nolan.

The front man played a key role in Notts' 1-0 win over Wycombe, firing home what proved to be the winner in the first half.

And Ameobi believes the team's hard work off the field is now showing in their results.

Speaking after the Wycombe match, he said: "As a team we're evolving - there's a progression here.

"The manager is doing a lot of work on the training pitch to cultivate a way of playing and I think you can see that more and more now.

"There's a lot of confidence among the boys in everything we're trying to do."

Ameobi reserved special praise for central defensive duo Richard Duffy and Haydn Hollis, who he thought were 'fantastic' in the victory at Adams Park.

And the former Newcastle man, who says he more focused on helping the team than setting himself goal targets, is now targeting a hat-trick of victories when Colchester come to Meadow Lane next weekend.

He said: "We want to build on what we've done - our home record has been great and it would be nice to add to that next Saturday."
