Key dates for 2017-18

21 June 2017

Notts' fixtures for the 2017-18 Sky Bet League Two season have been confirmed. Here are some key dates for your diary...

Saturday 5 August - Coventry City (A)

The opening day will see Kevin Nolan's Magpies travel to recently-relegated Coventry City in the season's curtain-raiser.

Despite winning the Checkatrade Trophy, the Sky Blues fell through the trap-door in League One and Notts will hope to inflict more misery upon Mark Robins' side at the Ricoh Arena.

Saturday 12 August - Chesterfield (H)

Notts' first home game of the season will have them face another relegated side in the form of Chesterfield.

The Spireites are back in League Two after three seasons in the third tier and will be hopeful of making an immediate return under the management of Gary Caldwell, who won the League One title with Wigan Athletic in 2015-16.

Saturday 30 September - Mansfield Town (A)

The first derby of the season gives Notts a trip to the One Call Stadium to face Steve Evans' Mansfield Town.

The Stags have been quick off the mark with their summer recruitment, signing 12 players and their manager has made no secret of his desire to win promotion in 2017-18.

County have not had much joy up the A52 in recent years and are without a win at Mansfield since August 2005 but Nolan and his charges will be detemined to turn those fortunes around.

Tuesday 26 December - Morecambe (A)

Boxing Day is a special day in the football calendar for supporters and this season Notts face a trip to the Globe Arena to take on Morecambe, turkey leftovers in hand.

With successive 4-1 defeats away to Jim Bentley's Shrimps in the past two seasons, the Magpies will be keen to avoid more away-day misery in Lancashire and ensure a Merry Christmas for the fans.

Monday 1 January - Port Vale (H)

Notts will kick off 2018 by hosting Port Vale at Meadow Lane in the 101st meeting between the sides.

The Valiants were relegated from League One after a four-season stint but have brought back fan favourite and Vale supporter Tom Pope, who bagged 31 goals when the Staffordshire side last won promotion from the fourth division, in a bid to bounce straight back up.

Saturday 17 March - Mansfield Town (H)

The return match against Mansfield on St Patrick's Day will bring back fond memories as the corresponding fixture last season was the first under the ownership of Alan Hardy and the management of Nolan.

Saturday 28 April - Grimsby Town (A)

Notts will travel just over 5,000 miles next season and the last journey of the regular season will be to Blundell Park to take on Grimsby Town, who are managed by former Magpies boss Russell Slade.

The Mariners inflicted Nolan's first defeat in charge of County in January and the manager will hope for better fortunes on his second visit to Cleethorpes.

Saturday 5 May - Luton Town (H)

The final day of the season has potential to be a huge game as Luton Town, who will have promotion aspirations of their own after losing out in last season's play-off semi-finals, come to Meadow Lane.

Nathan Jones' side finished fourth last time out before losing to eventual promotion winners Blackpool and will want to go one better this time around.
