Strong start

11 February 2017

Notts County defender Richard Duffy was delighted with the strong start the Magpies made in their 2-1 victory over Cheltenham Town.

Duffy notched his first goal for the club after Jon Stead had fired Notts into the lead earlier in the first half.

And the centre back enjoyed going into half-time with his team well in the ascendancy.

He said: "It was nice to go in with a two-goal cushion. I think we deserved it in the first half - we were the dominant team.

"We created a few more chances as well and we could have gone in with more goals.

"We started on the front foot, the crowd got behind us and I think the first half was our best so far."

Notts were backed in strong numbers and Duffy was delighted to reward the fans with a win.

He said: "It’s great support for where we are in the league. Most teams are in the bottom three will get nowhere near that gate (7,901) so a big 'thank you' to the fans for turning up.

"We put on a show, especially first half, and hopefully they’ll come back again."
