Magpies close out the year with away trip to Wiltshire

30 December 2017

Notts County travel to Swindon Town this weekend looking to end 2017 in style.

The Magpies registered a comprehensive 4-1 win at Morecambe on Boxing Day to end a run of three successive draws in Sky Bet League Two and close out a remarkable year with a trip to Wiltshire.

The Robins have the worst home record in the league having taken 11 points from 12 fixtures on their own patch and Notts, with the fourth-best record on the road in the division, will look to ensure there are no home comforts for David Flitcroft's team.

Notts boss Kevin Nolan says...

"They are going to be looking for a reaction after that loss against Luton.

"That's going to be tough, but there are not going to be any easy games from now until the end of the season.

"What we have to do now is go there and replicate our performance from Morecambe."

Swindon manager David Flitcroft says...

"It will be another test of the squad, another test of the individual and another test of the collective.

"Saturday will give us the opportunity to see who is with us and who isn't."

Team news

Nolan was hopeful that injured trio Shola Ameobi, Rob Milsom and Jonathan Forte would recover from knocks to make the trip to Wiltshire.

Swindon will be without Timi Elsnik and Chris Hussey, while Harry Smith had his loan move from Millwall ended early.

We've met before...

The previous meeting between the sides at Meadow Lane saw Notts emerge with a narrow 1-0 win thanks to Jon Stead's penalty.

Notts' last win at Swindon came in April 2011, when goals from Alan Judge and Lee Hughes turned the game around after former County loanee Matt Ritchie had given the Robins the lead.

What are the odds?

Sky Bet have priced Notts up as 13/8 favourites to pick up a second straight win with the hosts seen as the outsiders at 7/4 and the draw at 11/5.

Kevin Nolan's team will look to rub salt in the wounds after Town were beaten 5-0 at home by Luton earlier in the week and the Magpies are 200/1 to repeat that scoreline. A more conservative 2-0 away success can be backed at 11/1.

Lewis Alessandra was among the goals on Boxing Day, netting a brace in the 4-1 win at Morecambe. The attacker is 6/1 to open the scoring at the County Ground or 14/1 to score two or more again.

Notts winning to nil is 10/3, while a Magpies win with both teams scoring is available at 9/2.
