Nolan: They'll come here with nothing to lose

1 December 2017

Kevin Nolan is wary of the threat posed by Oxford City ahead of Saturday's second-round Emirates FA Cup tie at Meadow Lane.

The Magpies host the National League South side in front of the BT Sport cameras and the manager does not want his team to drop their high standards.

"They have already beaten a good side in Colchester so for them to have that scalp means they will come here full of confidence and with nothing to fear," said the Notts boss.

"They will run themselves into the ground. We have to make sure we match them in every department and hopefully our quality will shine through.

"All their players will be ready, raring to go and at the top of their game. They have had a bit of a turnaround in their league form since their win in round one.

"I spoke to John McGreal [Colchester manager] last Saturday and he gave me a bit of an insight into Oxford City and how they will play, which will help us."

One thing's for sure: Nolan is not taking the opposition lightly.

"We've had them watched three or four times since the draw was made, we leave no stone unturned," he said.

"We will approach it like we have approached all our other games because, if we don't, we could be the ones who everyone is talking about for all the wrong reasons on Saturday.

"I'm not underestimating them because they are good players who have started out at professional clubs and have gone down the ladder but are looking for an opportunity to work their way back up.

"This is their time to shine, live on TV, so we have to make sure our lads are not outshone on Saturday."
