Feeling the love

13 April 2017

Shola Ameobi says the love he's feeling from the Notts County faithful is making him want to extend his stay at Meadow Lane.

The former Newcastle man has been a big hit with Notts supporters since joining the club on a short-term deal earlier this year.

And, if the circumstances are right, Ameobi would like to prolong his County career.

He said: "If my body allows it, it's definitely something I would like to do.

"I'm loving every minute. The fact I've been able to come in and really feel at home straightaway is a big thing for me.

"The fans have made it clear [that they want me to stay]. I can feel the love from them and it means a lot. The fact they're really behind me and the whole team gives me the feeling this is where I'm supposed to be."

For now, however, Ameobi is focused on the Good Friday trip to Crewe Alexandra, where Notts will look to extend their winning run to five matches.

He said: "They're a good side if you let them play. We've studied them and it's going to be a hard game, especially away from home.

"But we're on a confident run and feel if we can put our game together we can beat anyone. That's the mindset we've got and hopefully we can go there, win the battle first and then let our game come through.

"There's no reason to fear any team but if the three points aren't there you have to respect the point, then do your business at home."

Supporters can watch the full interview with Ameobi, in which the forward discusses his own no-swearing policy, his infamous appearance on MTV's Cribs and much more, on Magpie Player HD.
