Notts County's goalscoring debutant Aaron Collins says John Sheridan's advice helped him earn the Magpies a point against Grimsby.
Collins came off the bench with Notts 2-0 down but completed his side's comeback with a sweet finish from the edge of the area.
And the Wolves forward, who played for Sheridan at Newport County, says the manager played a part in his goal.
Collins said: "He told me that he wanted energy from me, and for me to work hard.
"While I was on the pitch he helped me, told me where to go and I ended up in a situation and got a goal out of it.
"That’s what I want to do, I want to be on that pitch scoring goals, getting the team three points and helping us work our way up the league."
For Collins it was an easy decision to join Notts on deadline day.
He said: "I had a phone call on the Wednesday to say that they wanted me on loan. It was a yes straight away.
"I spoke to Jason [Turner] about working with John again. It's a great opportunity for me.
"He’s a great coach and a great manager and hopefully I’ll learn under him."
