Notts County forward Jon Stead has been named Sky Bet League Two's September Player of the Month.
The forward was in scintillating form throughout the month, scoring five goals to help his team achieve an excellent run of results.
Stead said: "Sometimes, especially with managers, you can get this award and then things go horribly wrong! Hopefully there’s no curse involved and I can carry on scoring.
“It’s nice to be recognised across the division. I think the last Player of the Month award I got was at Huddersfield, so it’s only taken me another 13 years!"
Notts manager John Sheridan added: “He’s played a massive part for us so far this season.
"He’s made a lot of the goals himself. We know he’s got that ability - he’s played at a high level for most of his career.
"I’m very pleased for him that he’s won it - it’s recognition for his really good start to the season."
Stead staved off competition from Sonny Bradley (Plymouth), Gary Roberts (Portsmouth) and Nathan Thomas (Hartlepool) to scoop the prize.
Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Jon has had a very good career and a wonderful goalscoring start to the season including a terrific September.
“With nine goals already this season he’ll be hoping he can keep Notts County in the play-off places.”
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, EFL communications director Mark Rowan, League Managers’ Association director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet football trading manager Paul Lowery.
