Gutted for the supporters

8 October 2016

Notts County manager John Sheridan was 'gutted for the supporters' after today's 3-1 defeat at Mansfield Town.

All four goals came in the second half, with Alex Rodman's equaliser proving in the end to be little more than a consolation.

And Sheridan didn't conceal his emotions after full-time.

He said: "I'm very disappointed to end up losing the game and what's beating me up big time is the manner of the goals we gave away. It's ridiculous how we've conceded three goals today. We've thrown that game away.

"I just felt the game was there to be won but we haven't - we've lost 3-1 and I'm gutted for the supporters. We had a great following."

Sheridan now hopes to see his side bounce back with consecutive victories against Morecambe (Tuesday) and Crewe Alexandra (Saturday).

He said: "I'm going to beat myself up for an hour but luckily we've got two home games coming up. If we can get six points from them it'll be a little bit of a comeback.

"I've got to think about Morecambe now."
