Sorry to the fans

Notts County manager John Sheridan issued an apology to the travelling supporters after his team were beaten 4-0 at Blackpool.

Kyle Vassell's brace was supplemented by goals from Colin Daniel and Jamille Matt, while Vadaine Oliver was sent off on a miserable afternoon at Bloomfield Road.

Sheridan said: "I want to apologise to the fans on behalf of the players.

"We had a great following and for them to see that performance has made me a very angry man.

"I will not accept what happened out there today.

"The players will be in early tomorrow morning and we will talk through the game again. I hope they realise that they need to step up."

The manager is eager to use the upcoming three successive home games to rebuild momentum, starting with the Emirates FA Cup first-round replay against Boreham Wood on Tuesday night.

"Boreham Wood is a big game and a very difficult game," he said.

"I have got to try and give the players a kick up the backside and get them going.

"We have three home games coming up and we have to win all three."
