Positive injury news

19 November 2016

Notts County manager John Sheridan had good news to report on a number of his players ahead of the visit of Newport County.

The manager has been without several key figures in recent matches but expects next week to be a positive one on the injury front.

Sheridan said: "We'll probably have a few players back next week, which we'll need because the games are coming thick and fast.

"Alex Rodman and Jordan Richards are running and Curtis Thompson just needs a game - he's training full out now.

"The physio says Jon Stead's coming on really well, so you're probably looking at between 10 days and two weeks."

Michael O'Connor, who missed the midweek victory over Boreham Wood through injury, will be assessed before Sheridan selects his team to face Sky Bet League Two's bottom club.

But the Notts manager doesn't envisage Graham Westley's Newport finishing in the relegation zone.

Sheridan said: "They're in a rich vein of form at the minute and they've got a manager who I think is an excellent appointment for where they are. I think he'll get them out of there and they'll be well safe at the end of the season.

"I'm expecting a really tough game - they had an excellent performance last week against Carlisle so take nothing for granted. They're fighting for their lives but going the right way about it."
