Don Masson book signing

19 November 2016

Notts County legend Don Masson will be signing copies of One Flew Over the Magpies Nest before Saturday's match against Newport County.

Masson, who captained the club through three promotions from Divisions Four to One, is widely regarded as the best-ever player to pull on the black and white stripes and he will be the club's guest of honour at the game.

He will be in the club shop from 1.15pm - 1.45pm and 2.20pm until shortly before kick-off to meet supporters and sign copies of the 650-page book.

Masson was a major contributor to the new publication and he has already read it from cover to cover.

He said: “It’s a fantastic read. I stayed up until 2am on four consecutive nights - I couldn’t put it down.

“It was wonderful to relive so many of the great old days from my own time here and also to read insights from players of other eras, like Neil Warnock and Derek Pavis.

“The book is not a statistical read but a look behind the scenes with so many great stories as told by the players, managers and officials.

“It truly is fascinating and, for me, it’s a must-have for every Notts County supporter."

Author Paul Mace said: “More than 400 advance subscribers to the book overwhelmingly chose Don to be the best player they had seen play for Notts.

“It's very humbling that Don was so generous in his praise of the publication. His interview was one of the most revealing in the book and his stories about his time at Notts are inspiring, passionate and delightful.

"They paint a vivid picture of a truly wonderful era for the club under Jimmy Sirrel.”

One Flew Over The Magpies Nest (hardback, £20), is available at the Meadow Lane shop and online.
