The glitz and glam of Football in the Community’s 2016 Charity Ball

17 May 2016

FITC hosted its second Charity Ball on Saturday 7th May. The Ball was held at East Midlands Conference Centre and has proved to be a huge success again.

Almost 300 people attended from across Nottingham’s business community, as well as FITC’s partners, funders, trustees and staff.

Feedback from guests has been overwhelmingly positive with many enjoying the wide variety of Nottingham-based entertainers on show, as well as a hugely successful auction, silent auction and raffle.

Veteran magician Roy Bond thrilled guests with his illusions and ability to entertain a crowd. Young magician Tom Doherty, who at just 16 is cutting his teeth, has already performed at a number of FITC’s events in the past, never failing to impress.

Local musicians Rob Green, Yazmin Lacey and Motown Goldrush provided the audience with a chance to experience what the Nottingham music scene has to offer and kept the dance floor full, as guests danced late into the night.

A special treat for the guests included Next Door Dance who created a bespoke performance of The Beautiful Game for the event. Their routine was inspired by football culture generally and included a number of well-known voices from Meadow Lane including Ian Richardson, Les Bradd and Brian Stubbs.

The auction, silent auction and raffle were huge hits and included a signed pair of David Beckham’s football boots and a match day experience at Everton FC, among others.

All in all, it was a great night and has helped FITC to raise almost £6,000 which will go towards FITC’s community charity work.
