Margaret Wilson: Obituary

31 May 2016

Notts County are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of loyal fan and staff member Margaret Wilson.

Margaret was a very familiar face around Meadow Lane, and an extremely popular character and highly valued member of staff. She who worked in the Laundry here for 15 years, and was also a huge fan of the Magpies.

Lynn Lawson, Notts County Retail Manager and Lifeline Co-ordinator, worked with Margaret for a number of years and wrote this tribute to her:

"Margaret lived with her sister in Epperstone and used to travel to all matches in the 70's on Barton buses initially to the Huntingdon Street Depot/Victoria Centre and either walk to the ground or hop onto the City Transport football specials that used to cost 2p to London Road.

She used to stand in the County Road Stand and would never miss a home match as well as travelling on the away supporters bus or trains when they were laid on.

After she started work in the Laundry at Notts it became a labour of love towards the latter years,  and she preferred to sit and wash the kit rather than watch the games.

A lovely lady who will be sadly missed."

Everyone at Notts County FC would like to express their sincere condolences to Margaret's family and friends. She will be sadly missed.
