Notts County FC Football in the Community took over the operations of Portland Centre from the City Council in March 2014. Over £1 million has been spent on the centre so far, providing the centre with new boilers and insulation. This June has seen a new £190k gym installed, which has brought a new lease of life to the building and its customers. The new Pulse Gym will appeal to more customers with is state of the art technology and versatility in training options. The weights gym is wheelchair accessible, sporting removable seats and adjustable back rests to accommodate wheelchair users.
The rig is a great addition to the gym, with Olympic rings and attachments for pull ups, hand stand push ups, dips, resistance band training and much more. The rig is an ideal piece of equipment for those keen on developing their upper body strength, such as climbers and free runners.
The weights gym has also benefited from an increase in free weights, a Smith Machine, Dual Multi-Pulley and brand new resistance training machines. Portland has also retained its easy line gym which provides young people and those recovering from an injury with a way to build up their strength.
The cardio gym now boasts two stair masters, an extra cross trainer and treadmill, plus two new L-Trainer which provide users with a full body workout at 3 levels, toning both the inner and outer legs.
