Following the success of last year’s event at Meadow Lane, Sellebrity Soccer will return to Nottingham on Sunday, May 8th 2016.
The charity football match was launched in 2012 to raise money for charity using high profile celebrity football matches when founders Darren Eadie and Kevin Cooper brought together two of their greatest passions - football and generating funds for UK charities.
From smaller grounds to Premier League stadiums, Sellebrity Soccer organises regular, large-scale celebrity football matches across the UK and cover all costs with sponsorship, meaning more money goes to make a difference to others lives.
Kevin Cooper spoke of bringing the event back to Meadow Lane: “The club were right behind the match last time out and alongside Capital Radio made it a great success.
“So now being able to bring a Sellebrity Soccer match to Notts County in the Summer makes it even more exciting and we once again hope people will come out and watch their favourite celebrities play in what promises to be a great match!”
This year the proceeds from the event all go towards Notts County Football In The Community as well – so all the more reason to get involved!
Football In The Community’s Steve Hill told us: “We are delighted to be the chosen charity for this year’s Sellebrity Soccer event. It further strengthens the relationship between the football club and it’s communities while demonstrating the club’s support for our award-winning community work.
“We are excited at the prospect of working closely with both the club and its event partners to ensure this event is a success both on and off the field. Proceeds raised from the event will be spent directly within the local community and help support the mental health projects we deliver locally for disadvantaged adults and young people.”
Celebrities already confirmed to play include: Calum Best, Ray Quinn (X-Factor), Dan Osborne (Towie), Shayne Ward (X Factor/Coronation Street), Jake Quickenden (X Factor/I'm A Celebrity), Scotty T (Geordie Shore/Big Brother), Gaz Beadle (Geordie Shore), Jay James (X Factor), Sam Bailey (X Factor), Scott Robinson (FIVE), Jake Wood (Soap Star/Strictly Come Dancing), Ben Hardy (Soapstar), Jamie Borthwick (Soapstar), Tubes (Soccer AM), Dean Gaffney (Soap Star), James Tindale (MTV's Geordie Shore), Luke Friend (X Factor), Bars & Melody (BGT winners), James Graham (X Factor), Ricky Rayment (TOWIE), James Hill (Celebrity Big Brother winner), Terry Alderton (soaps/Comedian), MC Harvey (So Solid Crew), Jimmy Constable (911), Gavin Ranjum (TV Presenter), Max Morley (Love Island Winner), Josh Ritchie (Love Island Runner up), Sam Evans (Big Brother Winner), Stevie Ritchie (X Factor) & Matt Lapinskas (Dancing On Ice).
Notts County’s Head Of Commercial & Events Richard Cokayne told the OS: ““On the back of the great success of the first Sellebrity event held here in October I am delighted that a second match has been confirmed.
“Kevin and the team at Sellebrity are brilliant to work with and Capital FM also supporting the event means a great deal. The club are also excited to join forces with FITC as our chosen charity. I am sure it will be another great event!"
