Notts County have today signed Doncaster Rovers centre-back Gary MacKenzie on a 28-day loan*.
The imposing former Blackpool and MK Dons defender comes to Meadow Lane looking to further strengthen a defence which kept a clean sheet in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Luton Town.
First team manager Jamie Fullarton told the OS: “Gary is a player I’ve known from a number of years from his time with Rangers and Dundee. You find yourself tracking players throughout the years and how they can compliment your setup at the time.
“Obviously I’m delighted to bring him in because I feel he offers us something different, he’s a true leader who will help develop our young defenders in the first team and make a big contribution.”
Speaking for the first time since his signing, Gary said: “I've got plenty of experience in the leagues above but it should work out for everybody. If it can benefit Notts County and myself then everyone is happy.
"My job is to organise and keep clean sheets in the defence but I also like to play football - it makes the game more enjoyable. But the important thing for me is to concede fewer goals."
