Former Players Association To Host Special Reunion

2 February 2016

Manager Neil Warnock and 17 of his squad have already signed up for the 18th annual dinner of the Former Notts Players’ Association.

UPDATE Les Bradd has confirmed to the Official Site that the event has now sold out.

The night will celebrate the successive promotion successes in 1989 and 1990 which swept the club into the top flight of English football.

Warnock will be joined by assistant manager Mick Jones.

This special reunion, to take place on Saturday 14th May in the 1862 Banqueting Suite at Meadow Lane, already promises to be a sell-out.

The stars who have promised to attend include goal scoring hero Tommy Johnson who found the net in both Wembley play-off finals, once in the 2-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers in ’89 and twice when Brighton were beaten 3-1 in ’90 to take Notts into the old First Division.

After leaving Meadow Lane he went on to play at the highest level for Derby County, Aston Villa and Celtic.

Others who enjoyed glittering careers and will be there to revive great memories include Mark Draper (Leicester City and Villa); Craig Short (Derby, Everton and Blackburn); and Dean Yates (Derby and Watford).

There’s sure to be a big welcome for Charlie Palmer who, unforgettably, scored the winner against Forest in February, 1994.

Dean Thomas, who played in both finals, has since embarked on a second successful career as a crooner and will be entertaining the audience to some favourite songs made famous by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and Perry Como.

Some special surprises are being planned for what is sure to be a night to remember!
