Under 18s: Lincoln 1-1 Notts

16 August 2016

Notts County's Under 18s continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-1 draw at Lincoln City.

Following last week's opening-day victory against Scunthorpe, Nathan Cobain's equaliser for the Magpies handed them a point on the road.

Match report by Dave Fells:

Notts began the game with an unchanged team after their 2-1 win over Scunthorpe, playing into a strong breeze.

The Magpies were dealt an early blow when centre back Ryan Ebanks was forced to leave the field with an injury and was replaced by Tyrese Kennedy, who went to left back with George McCartney moving inside to play centre half.

On 21 minutes, Notts conceded a scrappy goal inside their six-yard box but fought hard to get back into the game. On 35 minutes, a cross from Sam Osborne was met by Cobain to score.

There was plenty of second-half effort from both sides but the increase in wind made good football very difficult. A good shot from skipper Dominic Brownhill on 78 minutes was well turned round the post by the Lincoln keeper.

Notts came under pressure towards the end of the game but their well-organised defence comfortably dealt with everything thrown at them, ensuring the young Magpies kept up their unbeaten start to the season.

Notts starting X1: Searson-Smithard, Anstey, McCartney, Brownhill (C), Ebanks (Kennedy 18'), Richards, Clayton-Naute (Towers), Osborne, Cobain (Campbell 65'), Gibbons (Robinson 65'), Howes
