Notts County manager John Sheridan intends to make minor changes to his starting line-up for tomorrow’s trip to Scunthorpe.
The Magpies take on the League One side in the first round of the EFL Cup at Glanford Park (kick-off 7.45pm).And Sheridan will make minor alterations to side that faced Yeovil on Saturday.
The manager said: “I will probably play one or two different players tomorrow – I’m not frightened of doing that or taking anyone off if I feel I need to change the game.
“Hopefully those decisions will stand us in good stead throughout the season. As a manager I’ve got to be brave and make them.
“It’s not just about the 11 that started on Saturday – I’ve tried to make that clear. There are good players there that didn’t start on Saturday. It’s important I keep them prepared and make sure they are ready to be involved.”
Sheridan says tomorrow’s match will probably come too quickly for recently-appointed captain Michael O’Connor, although he is likely to be involved against Stevenage at Meadow Lane on Saturday.
And the manager hopes the players he selects at Scunthorpe will be able to prolong the club’s participation in the Cup.
Sheridan said: “It’s a big, important game for us. Every game I play I want to win.
“The league is priority – I’d be stupid if I didn’t say that – but in the cup there’s always the attraction of getting a big team and going as far as you possibly can.
“We’ve got to put on a brave showing and get a good result if we can.”
Sheridan’s pre-match press conference is now available to watch on Magpie Player HD.
