A great opportunity

2 August 2016

New Notts County signing Vadaine Oliver is looking to put a tough season behind him by continuing his goalscoring exploits at Meadow Lane.

The forward scored 10 times for York City last season despite the Minstermen’s relegation from League Two.

And, having joined Notts on loan until January, the 24-year-old is excited to take the next step in his career.

Oliver told nottscountyfc.co.uk: “I’m happy to be here – it’s a massive club and a great opportunity for me.

“When you’re in a relegation side it’s a struggle every day – the morale is so low. But now I have a great opportunity to kick on from last year.

“I was top goalscorer last year and I’m looking forward to scoring goals here.”

Oliver, who is good friends with new team-mate Thierry Audel, admits he has work to do to be ready for the new campaign – but believes it won’t take him long to get up to speed.

He said: “At York I was doing fitness training but I didn’t play any games as I was in negotiations about leaving.

“I’m going to have to get my match fitness back but that won’t take long for me – hopefully I can hit the ground running.”

Oliver's player sponsorship is now available to purchase. To enquire, call 0115 9557 241.
