Former player Gary Lund to run the London Marathon for the NSPCC

5 April 2016

Notts County are proud to support former striker Gary Lund in his bid to run the London Marathon for charity.

The ex-Notts County centre-forward, now 51, is set to run for the NSPCC.

The 6ft striker, who made 248 appearances for Notts between 1987-1995 scoring 62 goals, is looking for all the support he can get for this massive challenge.

He cheekily said, "I never ran this far in the whole time I was with Notts!", before adding, "I actually took this photo this morning after I had just finished my last long training run (22 miles). I would appreciate any help you can give."

A powerful athlete in his day, Lund is attempting to set a good time. He said, "I am trying to run the marathon in around 3 hours 30 minutes but that is if things go well on the day and I don’t get cramp/injury/ill etc! I am running in aid of the NSPCC which is the main charity of the marathon this year. It is a great charity and I am determined to raise as much money as I can for them."

Gary's donation page is www.virginmoneygiving.com/Garylund.
