After hosting it's last game on Sunday, the Meadow Lane pitch has begun it's renovation programme today...
The work started at 7am, as three tractors were used to remove the top few millimetres of the pitch. The initial work will take two days to complete, with the ground staff working tirelessly after this to prepare the pitch for the 2015/16 season.Head Groundsman Trevor Hutchinson explained the work they've undertaken "We've literally only taken less than 2mm off the top of the pitch. We've left all the roots in, we spent a lot of time last season getting the grass plant a lot stronger than we have in the past, so we decided to do the minimum renovation."
"The weather hasn't been with us today, which slowed it down a little bit. Tomorrow we get some now soil down to verti-drain and seed the pitch, and hopefully in ten days time we can be mowing again. Then it's just a case of getting the pitch ready for kick off."
