Notts County Snap Up Leroy Lita On Loan

3 March 2015

Notts County have signed former England Under-21 international Leroy Lita on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season.

Lita, who signed for fellow Sky Bet League 1 side Barnsley at the start of the season, has made 24 appearances during the current campaign, scoring twice.

The 30-year-old striker first shot to prominence at Bristol City, where he scored 29 goals in his final season with the club, before joining Reading in a £1 million deal in the summer of 2005.

Lita went on to represent the likes of Charlton and Norwich on loan during his four-year stay at the Madejski Stadium, before leaving to join Middlesbrough on a free transfer.

After another productive season in his second year with Boro, in which he scored 12 goals during the 2010.11 campaign, Lita was again the subject of a big-money move the following summer, this time joining to newly-promoted Premier League side Swansea City for a fee of £1.75 million.

Further loan spells followed with Birmingham City, Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton & Hove Albion during his time at Swansea, before he left at the end of last season and linked up with current club Barnsley.

The striker goes straight into the squad for the Sky Bet League 1 game away to Colchester United on Tuesday evening after sealing his loan move earlier in the day.
