Halsall: Decision That Went Against Us Cost Us

9 March 2015

Mick Halsall had no complaints with the match officials at the weekend...

The Youth Team lost to Chesterfield 3-0, with the key decision of sending off defender Rhys Myers proving to be a deciding factor.

The game was 0-0 at the time, before Notts went down to ten men and conceded from the resulting free-kick.

Head of Academy Coaching Mick Halsall told the Official Site: “It was a disappointing day really as we started the game off really well. It was a competitive game, a big game for both club’s.

“The players were brave and played the ball out from the back, play through the thirds and we managed that really well.

“But we go down to ten men and then concede straight from the resulting free-kick, where we should have done better.

“There wash’t much in the game until that time and the decision that worked against us cost us. I have no problems with the sending off as he was last man, but we should have done better defensively.

“We managed the game really well despite being a man down and kept the ball well. We always looked a threat on the counter attack, but the second half we didn’t get going sadly.

“We didn’t stick to the game plan and it was two poor goals to concede. We didn’t show that resilience and purpose in the second period.

“We didn’t show enough about us. Chesterfield will now have that belief when we face them at home this weekend and it will be up to us to show everyone what we are all about and bounce back.”
