The Magpies travel to Essex in midweek looking to get a vital three points to ease their relegation fears.
Notts have lost their last three games by the odd-goal and will be hoping to pick up a much needed result at Colchester.
He told Magpie Player: "It's of course a six-pointer and I don't think we would have said that three months ago.
"We would've expected to be winning games like this back then with where we were in the league, we are aware of how tight this league is and we are absolutely in and amongst it.
"Clubs are down there and fighting for their lives and picking up results.
"It's tough at the minute, but we are in there and we will be travelling full of desire to get this wagon back on the road.
"It will be a night where we have to take responsibility. We need to be more clinical infront of goal like we were at the start of the season and fight for our lives at the back. Whatever 11 I put out there I will be expecting them to take responsibility."
