Hayhurst has been included in the final squad to face England in a friendly game at St George’s Park on 5 June.
The former Preston North End player qualifies thanks to his grandmother and has been capped at Under 19 and 21 level before.
He arrived at Meadow Lane in January of this year, making 12 appearances for the Magpies, with his final match against the Lilywhites in April.
