Sharpe: Grandad Will Be Watching On From The Stands

3 June 2015

Local lad Rhys Sharpe is excited to start his Notts career, but he knows he has one supporter in the crowd telling him if he’s not performing…

The 20-year-old from Selston arrived from Derby County and put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal on Tuesday.

He revealed to the local media that he’s hoping that his Grandad will be coming to games as he’s a huge Magpies fan and he will be his harshest critic!

He told Magpie Player: “It feels very close to home. I think I will settle here very quickly, having met the staff and manager.

“I’ve been in talks for quite a while.

“My Grandad’s a massive fan, so if I’m not performing for the club he will be the first to tell me otherwise!

“It’s close to home and it will bring the best out of me. It’s one of the biggest clubs in League Two and that will be good for me. Hopefully we will be going for promotion and we can give the fans what they want too.

“This club wants to get promotion at the first attempt. The Manager has said he wants us to attack and play fluid football and that will suit me. I’m an attack minded full-back.

“I will be looking to provide as much as I can going forward.”
