Moniz: We Still Have A Lot More Work To Do

9 July 2015

The boss was pleased with the performance and result after the big win at Arnold…

Manager Ricardo Moniz praised his squad for their 8-0 thrashing of Arnold Town, but knows there is plenty more to work on before the start of the campaign.

Notts ran out easy winners thanks to goals from Jon Stead, Kyle De Silva (4), Adam Campbell, Lartey Sarpong and Curtis Thompson.

The Manager spoke to Magpie Player after the final whistle and said: “First of all, thanks to all the fans who came. It was impressive to see how many came and watched.

“In the second half, we created more and got in a bit of a more rhythm. Arnold tired, but we should have scored more in the first half.

“We had six chances and scored just once, so we will need to work on that.

“In the second half, De Silva showed his talent. He has unbelievable net feeling and talent.

“We had more wingers in the first half, but after an intensive first week I was pleased.

“We still have a lot to work on to ensure we can get maximum points each week when the season starts.

“De Silva played number nine and it’s a new role for him and he did well.

“We had a number of trialists playing, but they must be really better than we already have. We have more speed than last year, but we are still looking for players.”
