Club Bolsters Media Options

29 July 2015

Notts County have this week bolstered their press relations options with the addition of Black & White fanzine editor Stuart Brothers to it’s media team...

With the departure of long-serving Communications Officer Ralph Shepherd this week, the club had to act fast to ensure someone was in place in time for the 2015/16 season.

Club CEO Aileen Trew told the OS: “We’ve worked closely with Stuart in the past in helping with content such as interviews for both his blog and the fanzine so we knew what qualities he would bring to the club.

“He has already shown us a great willingness to succeed in this role and has a range of skills we feel will enhance the department as we enter an exciting new phase. In fact we even struggled to get him out of the office on his first day!”

As well as interacting with supporters via the club’s social media channels, Stuart will deal with both local and national press and also be responsible for arranging the club’s weekly press conferences.

Speaking with the OS, Stuart was under no illusion as to the task at hand: “Ralph leaves some pretty big shoes to fill. Everyone knows what he has brought to the role over the last few years but I’m relishing the opportunity to not only emulate all that he has achieved, but to try and surpass it as well.

“First and foremost he’s been an enormous help to me over the last few years so the biggest downside of my appointment is that I won’t be able to learn more from him.”

Approaching the end of his first week, he went on to say: “I think enough people are aware of my somewhat positive disposition already, but I’m already excited with the things I’m seeing happen behind the scenes and I can’t wait to start covering what we’re all hoping will be a successful season.”

Stuart takes on the role of Media & Communications Officer and will work alongside Matt Rowland in the club’s media team. Stay tuned to the OS for news of further additions to the club’s staff over the next few weeks.
