Atkinson: I Feel At Home Here Already

21 July 2015

New Notts defender Wesley Atkinson was delighted to sign a deal with the club on Monday…

The former West Bromwich Albion full-back agreed a one-year deal at the start of the week and he can’t wait to kick-on now the deal has been done.

The 20-year has been used heavily in the four pre-season matches so far and will be looking to impress Manager Ricardo Moniz ahead of the big kick-off in August.

Atkinson spoke to Magpie Player on his new deal, saying: “I’m delighted obviously. I’ve been here for a while now, arriving on day one of pre-season and I’ve worked hard to get myself a deal and now I’ve got one, so I’m really happy to sign here and kick-on.

“Pre-season has been tough, it’s a new environment for me, with a new group, but the lads have helped and welcomed me and I feel at home here.

“I’ve played a lot of my football at West Brom, in their Under 21s side and (Head of Recruitment) Guy Branston was watching games and I found I was going to be released, and he worked hard to get me here.

“I’m happy Guy brought me back here and I’d like to thank him for pursuing me. He believes in me and he knows I’m a good player.”
