Youth Team Hit York City For Seven Again

23 February 2015

Notts Youth Team beat York City 7-0 on Saturday..

Goals from trialist striker Yohan Rutty-Smith, Kieran Blaney, Lartey Sarpong, Colby Bishop (2), Jordan Richards and Rhys Myers, wrapped up a convincing victory at the club's training base.

It was the second time the team have hit the Minstermen for seven this season and meant back-to-back victories.

A delighted Head of Academy Coaching Mick Halsall told the Official Site:
"We started the game really well and all the lads started on the front-foot. It took us a little bit of time to break them down, around 20-25 minutes, but we always looked a threat, even in those early stages.

"We took the lead and it didn't stop really. Even leading 3-0 at the break, we came out with the same intensity to score more which was pleasing.

"They all stayed at it, we played some good stuff and it's great to see the goals being spread round the pitch.

"All the lads are weighing in and I hope that continues. Sometimes we've had to rely on Bishop with the goals, but now we can see others unlocking defences, I want to see that on a consistent basis now.

"Down the other end, it was pleasing to nullify them defensively. We were very strong at the back and I don't think our goalkeeper was troubled."
