New loan signing Sean Newton was delighted to have secured a move to the Football League and is determined to make the most of the opportunity.
Newton has spent his entire career to date in non-League but has always held a desire to make the step up to the League ranks and he is delighted to have been given the chance to show what he can do with Notts.
“I’m made up to be fair,” the 26-year-old said after finalising his move. “I didn’t know anything about it until a couple of days ago and when I was told I was surprised.
“I know I’ve been doing well at Lincoln but to make the step to League One I was overwhelmed to be fair and especially a club like Notts County. I’ve been to the stadium today and been to the training ground, everything about it’s just different class to be fair so I’m made up.
“I was starting to think it might never happen but luckily enough, and I’m grateful, Lincoln gave me the chance to go and have a real go at playing in League One,” he added.
“It will mean a lot more to me, getting a move to the Football League, than it will be to someone who’s already there because I’ve strived for my whole life to play in the League.
“I’ve got to make sure I do well for myself, because if I do well for myself you never know what might happen, I could get a contract here next year and then that’s brilliant for me, I’ll be a League One player.
“So I’m coming here to take this with both hands and I’m not going to let it go, I want to be here next season, that’s a fact, so I’ll do my best and if my best’s not good enough then at least I’ve had a right go, but one thing I’ll give is 100%.”
