Notts County full-back Blair Adams spoke to the media on Thursday to preview this weekend’s trip to Fleetwood Town.
Despite suffering a disappointing loss to Sheffield United in midweek, Adams feels that if Notts can reproduce the form that they showed in that game, when they controlled much of the play, especially in the second half, they will be a match for anyone in Sky Bet League 1.
“The last two, especially Chesterfield and Sheffield United at home, I think have been very good performances and obviously the Chesterfield one was hugely disappointing in terms of how the goal came about,” Adams told the media on Thursday.
“Tuesday night we matched them up and second half, to be honest, I thought there was only one winner, but unfortunately they got another goal and after that we just struggled to break them down.”
Notts go into the game in 17th place in the table, but with only 10 points separating 19th and 6th places, Adams knows that things can turn around quickly in this division, adding: “I’ve had a look at the table and it’s ridiculous really how tight it is.
“So we just need to go again really, we put in a great performance and Saturday’s only a couple of days away, so we’re looking forward to that and hopefully put in another the same type of performance and get the three points that we need.
“We want more clean sheets, that’s what we were proud of earlier on when we were picking up some unbelievable runs in tough games and hopefully we can get back to that.”
Adams knows that it will be another tough match away to Fleetwood, but hopes that Notts can focus on their own performance and doing what they have to do to get something from the game.
He added: “We know that they’re a good side, they’ve got some good players, but it’s what we go out and do on Saturday and if we can have a similar type of performance as Tuesday night we’ll be alright.”
