Moniz: It's Our Goal to Win Every Game

12 August 2015

Manager Ricardo Moniz spoke to Magpie Player after County's 2-1 victory over Huddersfield in the Capital One Cup...

"It’s fantastic to win against a Championship side. It’s our goal to win every game."

Notts defeated Championship side Huddersfield Town to progress through to the second round of the Capital One Cup, and Moniz recognised the achievement of his team, "It was prestigious here for us today, to see how far we have come."

"We had two more chances as well with De Silva and Stead. We are stronger than our opponents, we’ve trained good in pre-season and we’re fitter [than last season]."

Despite an outstanding performance and Noble's brace, Ricardo Moniz believes his side are capable of more, "It can be better, you have to create more chances. When you come so close to the goal, you must be more creative. We must trust ourselves more [in those situations], but at the moment we have that confidence of winning."

Thierry Audel and Civard Sprockel were praised for their performances at the back, holding the Championship strike pair of Ishmael Miller and Nahki Wells. Moniz credited their performances, but insisted that there is still room for improvement, "Their task is to lead, but they can still lead more. They must communicate constantly."

"They have to defend further from the goal, they are too close to the goal. But in their heading skills and their experience you can see that we are better than last year."

The draw for the second round of the Capital One Cup is on Thursday evening, following Doncaster Rovers' tie against Leeds United.
